1 – 5 October 2018 –  ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium

The first ESA Academy’s Earth Observation Satellite Systems Design Training Course 2018, held by ESA Academy’s Training and Learning Facility, has been successfully completed. The students were keen to study the design of Earth Observation (EO) satellite systems and work on a group project. Part of the project dealt with orbit selection for their case study.

An overview was given of the main EO satellite orbits and launchers, followed by a practical exercise using the SaVoir software tool. The SaVoir tool was provided free of charge to all the students for the entire duration of the training course. Feel free to give the software a whirl by downloading the 30-day trial version. SaVoir‘s stunning visualisation and powerful simulation ability proved once again to be a very useful tool for educational purposes.
